Basic Household Tool Kit

Just got a feeling of sharing some technical know how on Home troubleshooting and repairs to help those homeowners, home buddies, apartment owners, moms (brave ones) to have things fixed by their own without the help of an expert handyman. But of course there are instances that may really require the assistance (for a fee). Let me start with a very basic introduction of the things helpful to your home project, would it be a simple electrical, plumbing, masonry or carpentry works; though some jobs may use with your bare hands. I encourage you to at least have this basic quality tools in your home, but make sure to keep it away from small kids to avoid accidents.

You may have lots of tools for particular projects that you use infrequently, and they can be kept in a garage or work area where I love to stay fixing things whatever my kids break :0 . Some suggest to keep these tools anywhere which I disagree. Having basic tools handy makes it much more convenient to do simple home repairs which should include these basic do-it-yourself items.

Pencils/Marker with thin pointed tip
A basic tool for marking you will need unless you have a superpower in taking exact spots. You'll probably need to mark a drill hole or record a measurement. Have pencils handy and a small notebook for taking down the measurements.

Pull-Push Rule
Considered as the most commonly used and handy measuring tool. A 25-foot measuring tape will work for most jobs. Whether you measure for a wood, table or a whole room, choose one large enough to easily measure your home's spaces. You may keep a second smaller rule of 6 to 12 feet can be put in a pocket or purse for shopping trips or for hanging pictures.

Pliers
You may need three kinds of pliers. (1) Combination Plier (2) Long Nose Plier and (3) Cutter Plier. Please buy a quality one. Don't be fooled by a cheap pliers. I only use Stanley and Black and Decker tools though you may find other brands of quality. Get a small assortment in various sizes and shapes. You'll use a needle-nose pliers most frequently, but have a heavy grooved pliers for removing nails or large staples. Wire cutting pliers are good for wiring and craft jobs

Claw Hammer
A tool primarily used for pounding nails into, or extracting nails from, some other object. Generally, a claw hammer is associated with woodworking but is not limited to use with wood products. It is not suitable for heavy hammering on metal surfaces (such as in machining work), as the steel of its head is somewhat brittle; the ballpeen hammer is more suitable for such metalwork. The most popular sizes have weight of head between 10-20 ounces.

Screwdrivers
Two basic screwdrivers are a necessity. Choose both a good quality flat head screwdriver and a Phillips head screwdriver in a medium size. A set of tiny screwdrivers will can be very useful to fix audio or computer equipment or tighten a pair of eyeglasses.

Level

It's important to get an accurate level for accurate positioning. A good sturdy level will last a lifetime. A level is a must for straightening up pictures, drilling holes in a level line, checking tabletop alignment, or mounting towel bars perfectly.

Vise Grip

This is a pliers that has a locking mechanism that grips and holds things tightly. Use it to grip a screw you want to remove or use two to twist sticky things apart. They provide a slip-free hold when you need it.

Elect
rical test screw driver

Sometimes you try to plug an appliance but wonder why its not functioning. This would be an easy way if you don't have this tool.Try plugging it on other socket and if did work well, the problem would be on the socket itself. Make sure its with your transformer if your appliance is 11ov. You may find this useful in determining whether the socket is okay or not. There are some that you must actually touch a live terminal with the tip of the screwdriver to have the indicator light indicate power, and some that you only get close to power but do not need to touch live parts. In case you find almost all your socket are not giving any power, call a certified electrician or a person knowledgeable in troubleshooting electrical problems.

Hacksaw
A hacksaw is a fine-tooth saw with a blade in a frame used for cutting metal or bone. Hand-held hacksaws consist of a metal arch with a handle, usually a pistol grip with pins for attaching a narrow disposable blade.

Utility
knife
Also known by various other names like cutter knife is a cutting tool used in various trades and crafts for a variety of purposes. Designed to be lightweight, easy to carry and use, utility knives are commonly used in factories, warehouses, and other situations where a tool is routinely needed to open boxes, packages, or cut through tape or cord.

Basic toolbox
Of course you don't have these tools just clutter anywhere. Keep all those tools in a tool box and keep it in strategic, accessible to you but not with the kids.

Assorted Nails and Screws
You might find prepackaged sets of basic sizes at a home center or get a small divided box and put together a custom assortment that will come in handy when you hang pictures or make minor repairs.
